BRIDGEPORT MILITARY ACADEMY

SUMMARY OF CADET GROOMING STANDARDS


Boys

- BMA Shirts: tucked in

- Footwear: boots polished; dark/black athletic shoes as an alternative to boots

- No clothing not part of the uniform (sweatshirts, hoodies, etc.); however, the

following may be worn beneath: long sleeve, hoodless sweatshirts that are black, blue, gold/yellow or white.

- Hair: Neat, clean, trimmed; not touching ears or collar

- Sideburns: shall not extend below a point even with the middle of the ear.

- Facial hair: mustaches only; neat and closely trimmed.

- Earrings/studs: not authorized in the ear, nose, eyebrows, tongue, lips or

 other areas of the body visible to the Naval Science Instructor

- Necklaces/chains: OK, but not visible

- Rings: One per hand

- Wristwatch/bracelet: one of each OK

- Sunglasses: outdoors, conservative styles only, but not in formations.

Girls

- BMA Shirts: Tucked in

- Footwear: boots polished; dark/black athletic shoes as an alternative to boots

- No clothing not part of the uniform (sweatshirts, etc.); however, the following

may be worn beneath: long sleeve, hoodless sweatshirts

that are black, blue, gold/yellow or white.

- Hair: clean, neatly shaped; hair below the shoulders in a bun in the back of

the head; barrettes similar to hair color

- Cosmetics: applied in good taste, blended with skin color; conservative

 lipstick OK

- Fingernails: not excessive in length; nail polish to complement skin tone

- Earrings/studs: one per ear centered on the ear lobe; must be small gold

 Or silver ball (no hoops!); studs not authorized in the nose, eyebrows,

 tongue, lips, or others areas of the body visible to the Naval Science

 Instructor.

- Necklaces/chains: OK, but not to be visible

- Rings: one per hand

- Wristwatch/bracelet: one of each OK

- Sunglasses: outdoors, conservative styles only, but not in formations.
